The Singapore coroner's ruled American engineer Shane Todd took his own life.
Todd's parents believe he was murdered because of his work.
The 31-year-old was found hanging at his apartment in June last year.
A lawyer for the family gave a brief statement.
(SOUNDBITE)(English) TODD FAMILY LEAD LAWYER GLORIA JAMES SAYING:
"Basically we were instructed to just convey the findings to the family, extend a copy of the findings to them, and to ensure that Shane Todd's personal belongings are actually returned to the family."
Todd's parents initially attended the coroner's inquiry but pulled out saying they'd lost confidence in the investigation of his death.
They allege he was murdered over his research on an advanced semiconductor material with commercial and military uses.
They say they'll issue a statement after reading the coroner's report.
