Smoke rises on the outskirts of Idlib in Syria as rebel soldiers take positions, amid the relentless sound of gunfire.
They take aim at a military convoy heading to a base.
The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters shows opposition forces conceding little ground -- facing a better armed and better trained government forces.
As the holy month of Ramadan begins there is no sign of peace on the ground.
In suburban Damascus a rebel soldier takes aim at government forces. Amid the smoke and gunfire a man seems to fall to the ground from a government tank.
In the central city of Homs a building in a destroyed neighborhood comes crashing down.
On the street broken glass and rubble.
Storefronts are blown open. No one lives here anymore.
At least 100,000 people have died in the war, scores more have been left homeless -- with more than a million now living as refugees outside the country.
