Protesters in Los Angeles Monday confronted police and vandalized storefronts over the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. Demonstrators stood in the streets shouting and sometimes throwing objects at riot police. LA Mayor Eric Garcetti said the protests were not what the Martin family would have wanted. (SOUNDBITE)(English) LOS ANGELES MAYOR ERIC GARCETTI SAYING: "If you truly care about the Martin family, if you truly care about the underlying issues, the last thing you should be doing is taking to the street, stealing scooters out of peoples' hands, assaulting people, smashing windows, scaring drivers or pedestrians, so yes that line is drawn." A jury acquitted Zimmerman on second degree murder and manslaughter charges in the shooting death of 17 year old Martin. Zimmerman's lawyers argued he acted in self-defense when they say Martin attacked Zimmerman. Critics say Zimmerman, who is white and Hispanic, wrongly suspected Martin of being a criminal because he was black.
