The Redbull Soapbox Race, the so called 'world's wackiest race,' hit London for the first time in nine years and locals came out to show their wild enthusiasm.
A speeding London double-decker bus, Queen Elizabeth cruising on jet skis, and Scots breaking out into dance were among the 70 participating teams whose bizarre creations sped down the steep track of Alexandra Palace.
SOUNDBITE: Unidentified Participant, saying (English)
"As a famous Scotsman once said, if in doubt, flat out."
Some participants did "flat out," on the track.
While others lost their head, and another its queen.
Among the non-British themed wagons: a team in its Prime spirit, and some very happy peas in a cod.
