July 18 - Residents in Washington, DC seek relief as the northeastern United States is hit by a heatwave. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

The heat is on in Washington, DC as residents are doing what they can to cool off, as a heat wave strikes the northeastern United States. . (SOUNDBITE) (English) WASHINGTON, D.C. RESIDENT TRACY HACKETT SAYING: "I am just here to give my dog her daily walk and she likes to cool off at the fountain. She enjoys it here usually playing with the kids a little bit." Some children are taking it in stride as the National Weather Service issued heat advisories for dozens of northeastern cities, and more high temperatures expected Friday. At Washington's National Zoo water misters provide relief from temperatures in the 90s -- even if it's only for a moment. (SOUNDBITE) (English) BELMONT MASSACHUSETTS RESIDENT LILLY SAYING: "I don't like it. I really just want to stand in water all day. In cold water and just not feel any heat at all cause it's making me feel bad." For some of the animals avoiding the outside is the best policy -- with this Panda finding the best relief in the great indoors
