Natalie Portman is set to direct her first feature film based on "A Tale of Love and Darkness," a memoir by Israeli novelist Amos Oz. The Oscar-winning actress will also play a role in the film: she'll portray Oz's mother, who committed suicide when he was 12. Portman is expected to go to Israel in September for film preparations and begin shooting in January. The movie will recount Oz's childhood in war-torn Jerusalem in the 1940s and 1950s.
