The city of Venice is arguably the most beautiful city in the world, renowned for its location, its artworks and, of course, its architechture. But it also houses the oldest film festival in the world which has reached the heady age of 70 this year. At a packed press conference in Rome the line-up for this year's festival was announced by the festival's artistic director Alberto Barbera. Highlights of the selection include 'The Canyons' which sees troubled star Lindsay Lohan make a return to the festival in Paul Schrader's new movie about mind games. Also returning to Venice is James Franco both for 'Child of God' which he directs, and 'Palo Alto' in which he stars. Kim Ki-Duk, last year's winner of the ultimate Venice prize, the Golden Lion with the film 'Pieta', returns this year out of competition with his new movie 'Moebius'. The festival will be opened by George Clooney, who has been a frequent visitor to the red carpet outside the Salle Grande over the last decade. He will be joined there by Sandra Bullock for the Alfonso Cuaron movie 'Gravity'. The movie sees the pair play astronauts, whose shuttle is hit by space debris and suddenly they find themselves cut off earth and stranded in space with only each other for company. 'Gravity' opens the festival on August 28th.
