Jailed Pussy Riot member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova will remain in prison. On Friday, a Russian judge denied parole to the 23-year-old who is currently serving a two-year prison sentence for "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" after the band's performance of a "punk prayer" against President Vladimir Putin in Moscow's main Russian Orthodox cathedral. Nadezhda had asked the court to grant her parole so she can look after her young daughter. But the court said no. And she remains defiant. It is my advantage, only reaffirming that I have my own opinions and convictions which I'm ready to defend until the very end." (TAKING SEAT IN METAL CAGE) Another member is also behind bars after a court recently made a similar rejection for a parole appeal. The Pussy Riot case is seen as part of a wider crackdown on protests since Putin returned to the Kremlin for a third term in 2012.
