July 28 - Jewels worth millions of dollars were stolen from a Cannes hotel --- the latest and largest in a series of robberies in the French Riviera resort city. Deborah Gembara reports.

Gunman seized several bags containing jewelry and watches worth several million dollars from this hotel in Cannes.
The Carlton (Showing hotel sign) was hosting an exhibition of Leviev jewels - which included a massive array of diamonds. Local media put the value around 40 million euros, roughly 53 million dollars --- an amount the hotel has not confirmed.
The theft is the latest and largest in a series of robberies to hit the French resort city which is home to the international film festival.
