July 29 - Neither wing nor prayer help contestants from crashing in Moscow's home-made flying machine contest. Tara Cleary reports.

It's quite a good likeness - French actor Gerard Depardieu's head on a Russian passport. It's a flying machine and its designers hope it will go far. SOUNDBITE: Yulia, Red Bull Flugtag contestant, saying (Russian): "We did practically everything ourselves, and we are really worried. Our team is the very best so we hope we'll fly really far." Not quite the ending the contestants had in mind. But it's all part of the fun of Russia's Red Bull Flugtag or "Flying Day". The competition is in its 13th year and 37 teams participated in what seems like a lost cause. SOUNDBITE: Alexandra, Red Bull Flugtag contestant, saying (Russian): "Our machine is an owl. We hope that we will be worthy participants and entertain ourselves and the audience." And despite everyone's best efforts, most teams ended up looking a little sheepish.
