ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in front of Taiwan's Presidential Palace on Saturday to protest against the treatment of a soldier who died after being punished for misconduct. 24-year-old military conscript Hung Chung-chiu died of organ failure triggered by a heatstroke on July 4, 2013, days before his military service was due to end. Hung was punished and held in solitary confinement for bringing a mobile phone with a built-in camera into his military base. Hung's death triggered public outcry with defense minister, Kao Hua-chu stepping down after criticism of Hung's death. In a news conference on Saturday, Taiwan's Premier Jiang yi-huah agreed to establish a military appeals committee in order to review military laws and punishment.
