20 killed in India flooding

Floods due to incessant rainfall in Chandrapur district of India's western Mahrashtra state claimed 20 lives, while displacing more than 8000 people, according to local media which said the deaths had been registered in the last few days. The floods occurred due to the continuous rainfall and have caused chaos in 863 villages and submerged 1,226 hectares of land. The floods were estimated to have damaged 2 million 16,450 hectares of vegetation as well. Eleven irrigation projects were disrupted in the district due to the floods. Various roads were inundated and transport severely disrupted Authorities have sought assistance from the disaster management force.
