A man is airlifted to safety after being stranded by flashflooding in the southern state of Tamil Nadu Monday. Residents were taken by surprise when the river suddenly burst its banks due to heavy monsoon rains. Many were forced to climb trees to escape the raging waters. Crowds quickly gathered in the community to watch the Indian Air Force's dramatic rescues unfold. Monsoon rains soak much of India from June to September every year, causing flooding, destroying crops and displacing millions.
