German Chancellor Angela Merkel is back in school. But she's not there to talk about her expertise in economics... But rather history. Her own history, to be exact. Merkel spoke with students at a Berlin high school to mark the 52nd anniversary of the building of Berlin Wall. (SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN CHANCELLOR, ANGELA MERKEL, SAYING: "August 13, today it's the 52nd anniversary of the construction of the Wall. This was the year, 1961, when I started school and my favorite lessons were languages as well as German and math." Merkel says she prepared well ahead of her first history class. (SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN CHANCELLOR, ANGELA MERKEL, SAYING: "I have looked at how many students will be in this class, I have looked at the history a bit - it's not the same to share personal experience or teach facts. For me it's very interesting that the personal experience for the younger people has already become history and has nothing to do with their own experience anymore." At her arrival, schoolchildren cheered and presented the German leader with flowers. Merkel is up for re-election September 22nd.
