From a Day of Rage to a day of mourning, Egyptians everywhere are carrying their dead. With tears falling, many are trying to make sense of the hundreds of deaths produced by ongoing clashes between security forces and protesters. Chanting "God loves martyrs," mourners march in a funeral procession in Alexandria where one resident says hundreds suffered bullet wounds from the army. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) UNIDENTIFIED ALEXANDRIA RESIDENT SAYING: ''We were surprised that the police and the army arrived with a large number of thugs and they unleashed a wave of bullets at the peaceful protesters. More than 12 people died yesterday and the number could rise because there were snipers at the top of the buildings. Most of the people who died died of bullets to their throats. We had more than 600 wounded and most of them from bullet wounds.'' In Suez, the body of a Muslim Brotherhood member killed a day before in Cairo's Ramses Square arrived for his grieving father. The family announced a full funeral service would not be held until Mohamed Mursi returns to power. Meanwhile, the presidency's political adviser, Mostafa Hegazy, vowed that the government would continue on the path to democracy. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PRESIDENTIAL POLITICAL ADVISER, MOSTAFA HEGAZY, SAYING: "We will combat extremism, and we will combat terrorism, not only by security measures, but by the rule of law, by making sure that we have the proper framework of human rights established, and by making sure that we're continuing our proper path to democracy as we promised and we will fulfill." The country has been in a heightened state of chaos since a crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood supporters earlier this week.
