Rescuers resumed their search and retrieval operations on Sunday (August 18) to find the remaining 82 missing passengers from a ferry that sank, killing at least 38 people in the Philippines, a coastguard official said. The ferry sank on Friday (August 16) after a collision just outside the central port of Cebu with a cargo vessel. Rescuers found several more bodies floating near the site of the incident. Divers were having a difficult time due oil spilling from the sunken ship and affecting visibility, officials said. One official said technical divers started operations to search for bodies inside the sunken ferry. A thorough investigation into the cause of the incident has been ordered.
