The HMS Westminster arrives in Gibraltar on Monday.
It's one of several warships which will take part in military exercises in the territory.
But the war games are being held amid tensions between Spain and Britain over fishing rights in the area.
Although London says the exercises were scheduled before the row, some in Spain see them as provocative.
The trouble began after Gibraltar created an artificial reef off its coast with concrete blocks.
Spanish fisherman say the reefs block their access to certain waters, which prompted Spain to tighten border checks.
The issue has become a war of words with an official in Gibraltar accusing Spain of deflecting attention from corruption charges back home.
The Spanish government has threatened to up the ante by charging tourists border levies, restricting air space and blocking Gibraltar ships.
Spain claims Gibraltar, which has a population of just 30,000. But it was ceded to Britain by treaty 300 years ago.
