The Muslim Brotherhood's spiritual leader, Mohamed Badie sudued with dark circles under his eyes.....An armed guard at his side..... These images were shown on a private TV channel, the latest escalation of tensions in the deeply divided country. The Egyptian authorities say they detained the 70-year-old at a flat in Cairo in the early hours of the morning. Badie was charged in July with inciting the murder of protesters. Almost 900 people are reported to been killed in Egypt since Wednesday, when the army cleared protest camps set up by supporters of President Mohammed Morsi, who was removed by the military. Badie had been on the run as the interim administration tried to suppress demonstrations against the ousting of Morsi. Hundreds of members of the Muslim Brotherhood have been detained in the past few days and after the arrest of Badie more are likely to follow, inflaming tensions still further.
