Aug. 21 - Speculation surrounding the identity of Al Jazeera America as the network introduces itself to American audiences for the first time. Gavino Garay reports.

STORY: Headquartered in New York City, the Qatari-owned Al Jazeera America network debuts on American airwaves, vowing to deliver hard-hitting domestic news. The Mideast news outlet bought Al Gore's Current TV in January and is slated to try to compete with U.S. news networks like CNN, MSNBC and Fox News. Ehab al Shihabi is the interim CEO of Al Jazeera America. (SOUNDBITE) (English) EHAB AL SHIHABI, INTERIM CEO AL JAZEERA AMERICA, SAYING: "It is a dream come true. We feel excited. We are speechless. I can see the morale of the team. I think this is, was, a fantastic journey for the team." Available in 49 million U.S. households, Al Jazeera America faces an uphill battle to build a loyal U.S. audience, given it is under the patronage of the government of Qatar.
