Typhoon Trami hit provinces in southern China early on Thursday, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds, state media reported.
China's state-run news agency Xinhua said Trami made landfall in the coastal areas of Fuqing City, packing winds of up to 126 km per hour at its centre.
It added that flood control authorities in southern Zhejiang and Fujian provinces issued a Grade II emergency response, the second highest level, and that high-speed train services were halted.
Trami had hit northern Taiwan on Wednesday before moving on to southern China.
