Miley Cyrus has spoken out about her controversial performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. The 20-year-old singer told MTV that she doesn't "pay attention to the negative." Cyrus' performance, which some have criticized as being too sexually charged, featured her in a bikini, dancing, grinding up against "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke, and rubbing herself with a giant foam finger. Pop singer Jennifer Lopez will be returning to "American Idol," joining new judge Harry Connick Jr. and veteran Keith Urban. Lopez returns after a season away. The singer and actress will add star power to the show, which was once the most-watched television show but has seen its ratings dip over the last few seasons. Dakota Johnson will play Anastasia Steele alongside English actor Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey in the film version of the erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey." The book was first published in 2011 and became a cultural phenomenon as it rocketed up the bestseller lists. "Fifty Shades" is due for release in 2014. Civil rights drama "Lee Daniels' The Butler" continued to serve up box office victories with $20 million (USD) in ticket sales over the long U.S. Labor Day weekend, leading Hollywood's box office for the third straight weekend. The film has grossed a total of $79.3 million in ticket sales since opening on August 16. "One Direction: This is Us," led the box office through Sunday but fell behind when "The Butler" enjoyed strong Monday showings, coming in second with a total of $18 million.
