This sculpted wooden shoe is just one of 46 items in "From Warhol, With Love", a selling exhibition of works by pop artist Andy Warhol at Sotheby's in Hong Kong. Prices start at $10,000 and climb to $1 million U.S. dollars for the most expensive, Warhol's 'Dollar Bills'. Much of the collection focuses on the artist's ink-on-paper work from the 1950's, but the dollar bills were created a bit later in his career, says Sotheby's specialist, Jacqueline Wachter. SOUNDBITE: Jacqueline Wachter, specialist in Contemporary Art, Sotheby's New York, saying (English): "They come to us from '62, which was his most important, kind of watershed year, where he really experimented with the subjects that have made him the most famous, like his Campbell soup cans, like the dollar bills." The artworks were brought to Hong Kong from Sotheby's in New York. Wachter says much of Warhol's earlier work was influenced by the artist's trip to Asia in 1956. SOUNDBITE: Jacqueline Wachter, specialist in Contemporary Art, Sotheby's New York, saying (English): "He was fascinated by the culture, by the gold colors, and by the screens. And they feature prominently in his 1950s work. So because we had this wonderful 1950-centric private collection, we thought it would be wonderful to exhibit parts of it in Asia" "From Warhol, With Love" is open to the public from September the 12th to the 24th.
