ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Spanish firefighters struggled to contain two forest fires as flames threatened houses in the north western part of the country. According to the regional government, the fires have burned 3,500 acres (1,400 hectares) in the villages of Carnota and Negreira. Both fires started on Wednesday night and remained active on Thursday. Emergency services have risen the alarm level to the highest degree for both fires. The cause of the fires remains unknown. There was no immediate information about evacuated people. The area has already suffered a number of forest fires in various regions this year. Around 10,800 hectares of land were destroyed in the first nine months of 2013.
