Horror movie "Insidious 2" shakes box office with $41 million

Sept. 15 - ''Isidious: Chapter 2'' jolts the film box office, taking the weekend U.S. Canadian box office race with $41 million, followed by the comedy, ''The Family.'' Gavino Garay reports.

"Insidious: Chapter 2" -- a low-budget horror sequel -- gripped moviegoers seeking a Friday the 13th scare.
It took this weekend's box office title, raking in more that $41 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates. Nearly $20 million came in on its Friday the 13th release.
The chilling flick features a family haunted by spirits.
Meanwhile, the Robert De Niro comedy, "The Family", finished second at the box office with $14.5 million over the weekend. De Niro plays a mobster whose family relocates to France under the witness protection program.
Last weekend's box office lead, sci-fi sequel "Riddick," fell into third place with $7 million in ticket sales. Vin Diesel stars as an intergalactic traveler who can see in the dark.
