French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi give their support Sunday for the U.S.-Russia framework for removing Syria's chemical weapons. The two met in Beijing to discuss the plan. During a news conference Fabius said ridding Syria of chemical weapons was only the start of a process to try and end the conflict (SOUNDBITE)(French) FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTER LAURENT FABIUS SAYING: "It was a first step, a first step because we find ourselves in a situation which is evidently very paradoxical. On the one hand we have advanced towards the destruction of the chemical weapons. Well done. But on the other, hundreds of deaths continue to happen each day in Syria, and thus now we have to work towards that as well, that is to say, finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis." Hailed as a step forward by much of the international community, the plan does leave open the possibility for military intervention if Syria does not comply. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will meet with Fabius along with British officials in Paris on Monday to discuss the matter further.
