Sept. 17 - While briefing reporters, Janis Orlowski, the chief medical officer at Washington Hospital Center, makes an emotional plea to end gun violence, saying: ''There is something wrong when we have these multiple shootings'' and ''we have to work together to get rid of it.'' ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: While briefing reporters, Janis Orlowski, the chief medical officer at Washington Hospital Center, makes an emotional plea to end gun violence, saying: "There is something wrong when we have these multiple shootings," and "we have to work together to get rid of it." On Monday (September 16), 12 people were killed and eight people were hurt, including three who were shot, after an armed gunman went on a shooting spree at the U.S. Naval Yard in Washington, D.C.. Police have identified seven of those killed, with identification of the others pending notification of relatives. The three gunshot victims, including a Washington police officer severely wounded in the legs, are being treated at Orlowski's hospital.
