Driving to one of only two U.S. states he'd never visited, New Yorker Irv Gordon rolls into Alaska and clocks in 3 million miles on his Volvo P1800 -- He remains the Guinness Book of World Records' driver with the most miles driven in one car by a single owner. But this isn't the first time he's showing off his prized set of wheels. (SOUNDBITE) (English) IRV GORDON, OWNER OF THE 1966 VOLVO P1800, SAYING: "The day I first bought the car I picked it up on a Friday night and started driving around town and showing it off to all of my friends and local pubs and wherever else." At the time, he wanted a car that would just get him around. That soon turned into more miles than he had envisioned. (SOUNDBITE) (English) IRV GORDON, OWNER OF THE 1966 VOLVO P1800, SAYING: And just kept expanding my ride and before I knew it, I was up in New Jersey and up in Connecticut, and went back to my college in Massachusetts. By the time I got through, I had put 1500 miles on it, and I've been driving all weekend. That was the beginning. " He first made it into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2002, when his odometer ticked over 2 million miles, the greatest milage for a non-commercial vehicle ever recorded.
