Typhoon Usagi causes flooding in southern China

Sept. 24 - Stranded residents rescued in southern China after Typhoon Usagi leaves heavy flooding. Julie Noce reports.

Rescue workers help transfer a child from waist-high waters onto a balcony. From there, he's moved onto a rooftop... down a ladder, then brought safely to dry land. At least 25 people have been killed since the typhoon hit on Sunday. Some 310,000 have been displaced with about 8500 homes being destroyed. repair work on power lines is ongonig with power expected to be restored later this week. In total, more than five million people have been affected by the flooding and high winds.
