This fire at a fertiliser plant in Brazilian municipality of Sao Francisco do Sul has been burning since Tuesday.
More than 120 local residents have been treated in hospital for throat and nose irritation, nausea and vomiting.
Hundreds of residents have been evacuated within a two kilometre radius of the blaze.
Some have fled the town because of fears for their health despite authorities' assurances the smoke isn't toxic.
(SOUNDBITE)(Portuguese) UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN SAYING:
"I left for work in the morning and now I've come back because the bank was closed and they didn't want me to enter."
The cause of the fire is still unclear.
Officials have promised an investigation.
