Kenya launched its official inquiry into the Nairobi shopping mall siege on Thursday as grieving families were waiting to collect the bodies of those killed in the attack. U.S., British and Israeli agencies are helping with the investigation into the assault which claimed at least 72 lives. Among those waiting outside the city mortuary there were fears for security in the future. (SOUNDBITE)(Swahili) RICHARD NZIOKA MUNZAU, NAIROBI RESIDENT, SAYING: "We're really afraid. If I wanted to buy a bag of flour I wouldn't go into a supermarket. I will look for some small shop near my house because the reports we're getting are not clear." The Somali Islamist militant group al Shabaab said it carried out the attack on the Westgate shopping mall. Its leader said in an audio message on the internet the siege was in retaliation for an incursion by Kenyan troops to crush insurgents in Somalia two years ago. He also warned of more to come if Kenyan forces stay in Somalia. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic/Somali) STILL FROM SOMALIMEMO.NET WEBSITE WITH AUDIO FROM LEADER OF THE SOMALI ISLAMIST MILITANT GROUP AL SHABAAB, AHMED GODANE, ALSO KNOWN AS MUKHTAR ABU AL-ZUBAYR, SAYING: "You will not be able to withstand a long-lasting war in Somalia and the calculated attack inside Kenya, (HE SAYS). "Today take the decision to withdraw your troops out of Somalia or prepare for a long-lasting war, blood, destruction and evacuation." The four-day siege highlights the reach of al Shabaab and its capabilities. It's also confirmed international fears Somalia would remain a recruiting and training ground for militant Islamists as long as the turmoil continues.
