A October snowstorm hits the central Rocky Mountains, downing trees and forcing state offices to shut down Friday. Hundreds of miles of Interstate 90 across parts of Wyoming and South Dakota were also closed down. The storm dropped more than 35 inches or close to 100 centimeters of snow in parts of the Black Hills region of South Dakota. Night footage out of Casper, Wyoming shows snow coming down as Oklahoma and Kansas brace for severe storms. The National Weather Service, which is running on a reduced staff because of the government shutdown, issued blizzard and severe winter storm warnings across the Upper Plains through Saturday morning.
