U.S. House Speaker John Boehner says the President's refusal to sit down and negotiate with Republicans over the budget is "putting our country on a pretty dangerous path." Boehner made the comments on Tuesday to reporters on Capitol Hill. "Listen, there's never been a president in our history that did not negotiate over the debt limit, never, not once," says Speaker Boehner. The U.S. government is now in its 8th day of the shutdown. Hundreds of thousands of federal employees remain on furlough. The clock is ticking for Congress to reach a deal on the debt ceiling. If lawmakers do not reach a compromise, the United States will default on its bills. President Obama has pressed Speaker Boehner to hold a clean vote on the spending bill that would end the government shutdown. Obama says only then will he be ready to sit down and negotiate over the budget.
