Russian Film Week is making its return to New York City. Filmmakers celebrated the opening night of the 12th annual festival at Manhattan's Ziegfeld theater. This year's event is being lead by Russian film critic and TV personality Anton Dolin. The five-day festival kicked off with a film by director Alexandr Veledinskiy. SOUNDBITE: Alexandr Veledinskiy, director, saying (Russian): "I think it's really great because in Russia we know American cinema very well. And in America Russian cinema isn't so well known. So I think this is great towards furthering that cause and giving it more exposure." Actress Yuliya Aug is thrilled about the festival and the opportunity to experience the big Apple. SOUNDBITE: Yuliya Aug, actress, saying (Russian): "I think it's the best thing that can happen. To go to a country where you've never been before and always wanted to go. But to go in the company of all these people that you know really well and like and had the pleasure of working with on different projects. But I think while I'm here I'm going to take one day to just walk around the city completely by myself to really feel it's essence and its soul." Ten Russian films will screen in various theaters from October 9th thru October 13th.
