Two girls arrested in Florida online bullying death

Oct. 15 - Two girls, ages 12 and 14, have been charged with felony aggravated stalking for ''maliciously harassing'' a 12-year-old girl who jumped from a tower to her death. Jillian Kitchener reports.

A 12-year-old girl jumped to her death from a tower at this cement plant. Rebecca Sedwick took her life on September 9th, a victim of bullying. Now, two girls, ages 12 & 14 have been charged with "felony aggravated stalking." A Florida sheriff says they maliciously harassed Sedwick both physically and online. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FLORIDA SHERIFF, GRADY JUDD, SAYING: "We rushed these arrests quicker than we wanted to, because of these posts. 'Yes I bullied Rebecca, and she killed herself. But I don't give a -' and you can add the last word yourself." The Sheriff spoke of one of the two girls arrested - a 14-year-old - who he says targeted Sedwick because she had dated her boyfriend: (SOUNDBITE) (English) FLORIDA SHERIFF, GRADY JUDD, SAYING: "We decided we can't leave her out there. Who else is she going to torment? Who else is she going to harass?" Tricia Norman, recalls messages sent to her daughter, Rebecca. (SOUNDBITE) (English) REBECCA SEDWICK'S MOTHER, TRICIA NORMAN, SAYING: "You haven't killed yourself yet? Would you please just die? They got what they wanted." (cries) She spoke again after the arrests. (SOUNDBITE) (English) REBECCA SEDWICK'S MOTHER, TRICIA NORMAN, SAYING: "I hope they get counseling, I hope they get help. I hope their parents realize they need to be more involved with their kids and know what they're doing." The two girls charged were released to their parents, and are being held under house arrest.
