For the sake of their children, 99-year-old Martina Lopez and 103-year-old Jose Manuel Riella finally have a Catholic wedding.
The Paraguayan couple has been together for 80 years and entered into a civil union four decades ago.
But that still wasn't enough for their eight children, says Lopez.
SOUNDBITE: 99-year-old Martina Lopez de Riella (Guarani):
"My children wanted us to get married - they told me that is what they wanted."
All but two of their children were present as were most of their 50 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
The ceremony was a first for presiding priest Cristian Paiva.
SOUNDBITE: Cristian Paiva, Catholic priest, saying (Spanish):
"It is the first time I am marrying someone of this age and I'm very happy to marry these two."
The service was followed by a party for family and friends.
