Senior Bahrain opposition politician Khalil Marzouq, who was arrested on terrorism charges has been temporarily released. He was detained in September for inciting violence and trying to overthrow the government. al Marzouq, who belongs to the Shi'ite Islamist al-Wefaq party denies the charges against him. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) BAHRAIN OPPOSITION POLITICIAN KHALIL AL-MARZOUQ, SAYING: "The case was fabricated and no one was convinced locally or internationally, because al-Wefaq is a political society and it is peaceful. And so there should be a political solution in Bahrain instead of chasing the protestors or politicians and sending them to court. We need a real political solution." The judge decided he could go free until his next hearing on Nov. 18. Rights activists see the court ruling as a conciliatory gesture aimed at placating public anger. Unrest has gripped Bahrain since a 2011 uprising demanded more rights and an end to discrimination against the majority Shia community by the Sunni royal family. On Friday the Wefaq party called for a mass weekly demonstration and dozens of anti-government protesters took to the streets.
