Ellis Island reopens after Superstorm Sandy

Oct. 28 - The historic tourist attraction has been closed for almost a year after damage from Superstorm Sandy. The island will reopen to tourists Monday morning. Linda So reports.

Historic Ellis Island is finally reopening. It's been almost a year since the iconic tourist attraction was shut down after damage from Superstorm Sandy. Starting Monday morning, tourists can get on a boat and travel to the Island, known as the gateway to America for millions of immigrants. These tourists from Europe can't wait to make the trip. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED TOURIST, SAYING: "All the immigrants pass through there. It must have been emotional scary and exciting. We just liked to see it for ourselves it would be lovely to see it." Parts of the island are still undergoing repair. But for now, tourists will be able to see the main floor and the great hall of the Museum.
