The White House celebrated Halloween with scores of young trick-or-treaters and 185 carved pumpkins on Thursday (October 31, 2013).
Hundreds of children in costumes ranging from Superman to Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, joined President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle on the South Lawn. The young guests, are mostly children from the area and the sons and daughters of military personnel. The Obamas, who opted not to wear costumes, handed out special White House M&Ms, Jelly beans, dried fruit and a special Sweet Dough Butter Cookie for the occasion.
Spider webs covered the bushes and large spiders could be seen on the pillars of the White House. Even two topiaries of the First Dogs were decked out in costumes --- with the one representing Bo dressed as a pirate and the one representing Sunny
