TV AND WEB RESTRICTIONS~*NONE*~ -- STORY CONTAINS GRAPHIC IMAGES -- At least six people are killed and dozens wounded in three explosions in northern Iraq. Children came under fire. No one is immediately claiming responsibility for the blasts The attack took place north of Baghdad in a region claimed by both the government and autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region. Sectarian tensions in Iraq and the wider Middle East are being fueled by the Syrian civil war, which has drawn Sunnis and Shi'ites from across the region into battle. Al Qaeda's Iraqi affiliate was forced underground in 2007. But recently it has been invigorated by the war in Syria and by growing Sunni resentment of Iraq's Shi'ite-led government. Sunnis feel their minority sect has lost out since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, and many took to the streets in protest late last year. the attacks comes as Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is in Washington for the first time in two years. He is seeking military supplies.
