Clashes in southeastern Turkey as protests erupt over government plans to build a wall near the border with Syria. Construction is already underway highlighting Ankara's growing concern about the spill-over of violence from Syria. Kurdish political parties oppose the plan, saying Syrian Kurds should not be stopped from crossing over. Turkey is sheltering around a quarter of the 2 million people who have fled Syria's conflict. It still maintains an "open door" policy to those fleeing the fighting, although it has closed border crossings from time to time. But refugees, smugglers, and rebel fighters have been able to cross the border leaving Turkey with a major security challenge as the country tries to contain the flames of war.
