President Barack Obama lays a wreath at the Arlington National Cemetery, honoring veterans.
Following the ceremony, the president spoke about challenges the most recent generation of U.S. veterans have faced.
"This generation, the 9/11 generation, has met every mission we have asked of them, and today we can say because of their heroic service, the core of al Qaeda is on a path to defeat. Our nation is more secure, and our homeland is safer."
