One giant kimchi party in Seoul. Three thousand people gathered to make 130 tonnes of the Korean classic of fermented, spicy cabbage. The charity event provides valuable nutrition for needy South Koreans over the winter months. SOUNDBITE: Drew Lad, Indian-Canadian participant, saying (English): "Kimchi is very healthy, very good for you. Eat it with almost everything you can eat, any meal. It's really great to be part of this event, and to help out the people in need of Korea." SOUNDBITE: Sung Myung-Hee, participant, saying (Korean): "I'm grateful for the opportunity to make kimchi for those needy people." The event was also an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people making kimchi in a single location. It's not yet clear whether they were successful, but at least participants know their effort will benefit thousands of people.
