It's a unique glimpse into the private world of former President Gerald Ford -- through about 1,000 belongings from his Coachella home that are up for auction. (SOUNDBITE) TROY MENDEZ SAYING: "We get to see another slice of life of who the Fords were, how they interacted with the Coachella Valley, with the entire community, and we also get to see a glimpse of who some of their friends were." Items include this Cartier 18-carat gold brooch, given to First Lady Betty Ford in 1976 for being named Woman of the Year by Ladies Home journal. (SOUNDBITE) JAN HART SAYING: "It's fairly sizable and has a good-size diamond in it, (covered by MS, hand holding the brooch) and I think that would be something really great (on cam) for one person that's gonna bid on that." The proceeds from the special auction will be divided between three local organizations the Fords were involved with.
