George Zimmerman was back in a Florida court Tuesday on new charges related to an alleged domestic dispute with his girlfriend, only months after he was acquitted in the fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin. A central Florida judge ordered him freed on $9,000 bond, after the prosecutor revealed new claims by the alleged victim that Zimmerman tried to choke her about a week ago. (SOUNDBITE) Assistant State Attorney Lymary Munoz saying: "She is in fear for her safety. On the day of this incident she indicated they had been discussing breaking up. He also has mentioned suicide in the recent past. Due to those factors and the defendant indicating at the time he threatened to commit suicide that he had nothing to lose, we feel the victim's safety and the community's safety is of paramount concern." Zimmerman, who was arrested Monday at the home of his girlfriend, faces three new charges including felony aggravated assault and two misdemeanors. Police say he pointed a shotgun at his girlfriend during an altercation with her Monday at her Florida home. The judge ordered Zimmerman not to have any contact with the alleged victim, forbid him from possessing weapons or ammunition, put him on a monitoring device and told him not not leave the state of Florida while on bond. Zimmernan's due back in court for his arraignment January 7 of next year.
