Dec. 5 - Bitterly cold weather is affecting the West Coast to the Great Lakes. Jennifer Davis reports.

An Arctic blast is working its way east across the country causing bitterly cold conditions and frigid temperatures from the West Coast to the Great Lakes. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED RESIDENT SAYING: "I have four layers on and three hats." In Denver, the Salvation Army is working to get the homeless off the streets and out of temperatures that have dropped below zero. And it's so cold road crews are struggling to keep roads safe. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED RESIDENT SAYING: "It loses its effectiveness at 15 degrees. "Basically we put it down and it has the potential to refreeze." More than two feet of snow has fallen in the Duluth area and at least five people have died in weather related accidents in Minnesota since Monday. In parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas people are gearing up for an ice storm. Even California is affected by the bitterly cold temps. SOUNDBITE: MARK SAVKO/SACRAMENTO RESIDENT SAYING: "I grew up in this area, I mean for it to get in the twenties is very rare."
