Caviar that costs 100,000 euros

Dec 05 - French luxury caviar merchant Petrossian is selling the largest box of caviar in the world. The 10 kg container is thought to cost around 100,000 euros. Ivor Bennett reports.

It literally oozes luxury. A 10 kilogram tin of black caviar, the largest container of the delicacy in the world. It's being sold by the famed French caviar merchant, Petrossian. Armen Petrossian is the owner. (SOUNDBITE) (French) OWNER OF PETROSSIAN CAVIAR ARMEN PETROSSIAN SAYING: "This exceptional box will interest anyone who wants it to be appreciated, to do something impressive, something worthy of a thousand and one nights. And voila, it's a bit like a fairytale, telling a story." The 10 kilogram tin's been nicknamed 'Ivan the Terrible'. And the price is only disclosed to clients on request. With 50 grams costing as much as 490 euros, the record box is thought to be as much as 100,000. Despite the high price, it's already hooked the attention of buyers around the world. The firm's delivering a tin to a client in the Middle East next week by private jet. When it comes to caviar, there's clearly no point in scaling back.
