Egyptian police fired tear gas for the third day running on Wednesday at student supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood.
The city's al-Azhar University and Cairo University have become the scene of frequent anti-government demonstrations.
At least 19 people were arrested at Al-Azhar clashes and seven at Cairo University, according to security sources.
