Colorado Governor: 'Pray for Claire'

Dec. 16 - The victim in a Colorado school shooting is in a coma and family and friends ask for prayers for 17-year-old girl. Linda So reports.

Students come together to pray for 17-year-old Claire Davis. She remains in a coma after she was shot by a fellow student at Arapahoe High School in Colorado on Friday. SOUNDBITE : STUDENT KENZ CAZIER, SAYING: "We're trying not to talk about the shooter as much, um trying to not make him a celebrity or anything and just focus on praying for Claire." Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper visited Davis and her family at the hospital. He's asking people to pray for the victim. SOUNDBITE: COLORADO GOVERNOR JOHN HICKENLOOPER, SAYING: "I mean, they are besides themselves, and, really, we all have to keep Claire in our thoughts and our prayers." Police say the gunman, 18-year-old Karl Pierson shot Davis, a random victim, as he walked into the school to get revenge against a teacher. He killed himself as police closed in on the school. Arapahoe High is just miles from Columbine where a mass shooting in 1999 took the lives of more than a dozen people. SOUNDBITE: COLORADO GOVERNOR JOHN HICKENLOOPER, SAYING: "Having had these episodes in the past, we do have strategies and protocols in place where we had a deputy sheriff in the building who immediately ran towards the trouble." Investigators say Friday's shooting lasted 80 seconds.
