Dozens of soccer fans in the Myanmar city of Yangon started rioting on Monday evening (December 16) after the Myanmar soccer team lost to Indonesia in the 2013 South East Asian (SEA) games, leaving the team out of the running for the semi-finals. Hundreds of angry Myanmar supporters spilled out of Thuwunna stadium after the game, while others set fire to billboards, flags, posters, hats and other SEA games memorabilia. Many fans threw stones at police trying to control the violence. It took at least two hours to contain the rioting. No deaths were reported. The teams in the tournament come from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Timor-Leste.
