The student who was shot at a Colorado high school earlier this month has died.
Officials say 17-year-old Claire Davis died from her wounds on Saturday after 10 days in a coma.
Davis was the only person wounded by Karl Pierson, who police say entered Arapahoe High School on December 13 and opened fire.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) ARAPAHOE COUNTY SHERIFF GRAYSON ROBINSON, SAYING:
"I believe that Claire Davis was an innocent victim. I simply believe she was in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Police say Pierson was going after the school's debate coach and librarian over a dispute the pair had.
As news spread, the community gathered at local memorials.
The Davis family released a statement following their loss, saying that, quote,
"The grace, laughter and light she brought to this world will not be extinguished by her death; to the contrary, it will only get stronger."
